Tuthill 30LEV A Internal Gear Pump

The Tuthill 30LEV-A is a small, very efficient internal gear pump made for high-performance lubrication and circulation. It has an “internal gear” construction that makes the flow smooth and free of pulses. This makes it a must-have in naval engine rooms and industrial machinery, where reliability is a must.

Marine and Industry Applications:

Instructions for Installing

1) Mounting and Foundation: Install on a solid, level foundation so that it can absorb vibrations and stay perfectly aligned with the drive unit.

2) Inlet Piping: The pipe that brings in the water must be at least as big around as the pump port. To keep pressure from dropping, make it as short and straight as you can.

3) Priming the System: The 30LEV-A can prime itself, but you need to fill the pump with oil by hand before you start it up for the first time to avoid running it dry.

4) Direction of Rotation: Make sure that the motor is turning in the same direction that the pump needs it to (usually marked on the housing). Keep in mind that pumps with inbuilt relief valves are directional.

5) To stop pipe strain, make sure that all pipes are supported on their own. Do not use the pump to hold up the pipes, since this will cause the seals to break.

6) Installing a strainer: Always put a strainer on the suction side to keep solids from getting into the gear mechanism, which might cause scoring right away.
