RIKEN KEIKI IRF-C4H10 Dual-Range Hydrocarbon Sensor (MPN: IRF-4345)
The RIKEN KEIKI IRF-C4H10 (Model IRF-4345) is a high accuracy, marine grade replacement Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) sensor for hydrocarbons (HC) calibrated for Iso-Butane. The smart sensor is designed to meet the most stringent safety regulations for marine and heavy industry applications and features a unique auto-ranging dual measurement profile from 0-100% LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) to 0-100% Vol.
The IRF-4345 is an essential element for fixed and multi-gas portable detectors like the RIKEN KEIKI GX-9000 series and Eagle 3, and it overcomes the poisoning issues found in conventional catalytic bead sensors. This NDIR sensor provides fast, poison-resistant and oxygen-independent gas detection for vessel compliance and crew safety in inerted cargo tanks, pump rooms or offshore assets.
Model Details:
Brand: RIKEN KEIKI Co., Ltd. (RKI Instruments)
Model/Sensor Type: IRF-C4H10 / IRF-4345 Infrared Sensor
Manufacturer Part Number (MPN): IRF-4345
Detection Principle: Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR) Technology

Key Features
- Fail-Safe Dual Auto-Ranging: Conveniently choose between 0-100% LEL and 0-100% Vol concentrations to monitor in real time transitions from explosive atmospheres to high-density gas leaks.
- Oxygen-Independent NDIR Core: The IRF-4345 operates correctly in entirely inerted atmospheres such as product tanker tanks, unlike catalytic sensors that need oxygen to burn gas samples.
- Immune to Sensor Poisoning: Immune to silicone vapours, halogenated hydrocarbons and heavy sulphide compounds that rapidly damage or destroy conventional combustible sensors.
- Extended Operational Life: Designed with advanced optics and hardware components and backed by Riken Keiki’s strong sensor platform guarantee to minimise downtime and operational expense.
- Marine & Heavy Industrial Ruggedness: Designed to tolerate extreme vibration, fast temperature changes, and corrosive marine air, yet maintain rock-solid zero-point stability.
Applications
- Tanker Cargo Operations: Required to monitor cargo holds, void spaces and ballast tanks during purging, inerting and gas liberating profiles.
- Marine Pump Rooms: Detection of dangerous fuel gas or volatile chemical compound vapours in confined onboard equipment rooms on a continuous basis.
- Offshore Oil & Gas Platforms: Installed on production decks and drill floors to protect personnel from flammable hydrocarbon plumes.
- Confined Space Entry (CSE): Used in portable multi-gas monitors for pre-entry testing of naval fuel tanks, cofferdams and industrial tunnels.
- Refinery & Petrochemical Processing: Fixed and portable gas perimeter loops to check for Iso-Butane storage or process line leaks.
