Installation and Maintenance Guide:

• Terminal Shielding & Ground Loops: Due to the extensive instrument cable runs from the lower plates of the ship to the engine control room (ECR), always terminate cable shields at the IOTA chassis ground point only. Never, ever ground the shield at both ends. Otherwise, irregular ground loop noise can distort your 16-bit analogue conversions.
• CC-TAIN11 employs 750 mA fuses onboard for auditing during overhauls. When the vessel is in dry-dock for planned maintenance or when control system audits are being done, check the electrical resistance across these fuses. excessive resistance indications or sudden swings in the ECR are generally caused by slight scaling or micro-corrosion around the fuse clips due to excessive engine room humidity. Only clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner dedicated for this purpose.
• Redundancy Alignment If you plan to use this module in a redundant pair configuration for a critical system (e.g. steering gear telemetry or main engine safety overrides) make sure to power both the primary and secondary IOTA termination blocks from independent 24VDC marine UPS rails.
