1. Control Fuel Temperature Changes When transitioning from HFO to MDO or vice-versa keep the temperature gradient less than 2°C per minute. Thermal stress might result in the pump plunger expanding faster than the barrel therefore causing rapid pump seizure or “stiction.”
2. Watch the Leakage Return Line. Watch the high-pressure leak-off lines from the fuel pump carefully.
