Wartsila W46 Piston Crown Skirt Ring

Wartsila W46 piston assemblies, including crown, skirt, and rings, deliver exceptional durability in high-pressure marine diesel environments. These precision-engineered components withstand combustion pressures over 200 bar while minimizing friction and wear.

The Wartsila W46 piston is made up of two parts and is designed to work well with medium-speed 46-series engines that are utilized for marine propulsion and power generation. It has a forged steel crown that can handle a lot of heat and a nodular cast iron skirt that doesn’t cause much friction. It works with a three-ring set to seal well. These parts work with 6-18 cylinder configurations (L46, V46, R46) and can handle outputs of up to 1050 kW/cylinder at 500/514 rpm.

Main Features:

  • A composite piston with a steel crown and an iron skirt that can handle 200+ bar pressure, is very stiff, and cools down quickly.
  • Hardened top ring grooves and unique coatings make the ring last longer and stop it from getting scuffed up when HFO is running.
  • The skirt lubrication system spreads a thin layer of clean oil that dampens tilt to lower noise, wear, and corrosion.
  • Integration of an anti-polishing ring-compatible liner reduces bore polishing and oil use.
  • The three-piece connecting rod design lets you work on the piston without taking everything apart.
