The Consilium MTE2-CS is a portable, battery-powered flame detector tester designed specifically for marine and industrial environments. When using the MTE2-CS, never point the tester at the detector from a distance of less than 0.5 meters. The intensity can occasionally saturate the sensor’s logic, leading to a delayed response. For the most accurate ‘real-world’ test, stand 2-3 meters back and aim directly at the optical window.”

1. Optical Cleanliness: Before testing, ensure the detector lens is wiped clean of oily film or soot. If the MTE2-CS fails to trigger a clean detector, check the tester’s internal reflector for dust.
2. Battery Memory: To maximize the lifespan of the internal battery, perform a full discharge-charge cycle once every three months.
3. Beam Alignment: The IR beam is invisible. If you aren’t getting a response, use the built-in sighting groove to ensure you are centered on the detector’s sensor.
4. Testing Protocol: Always notify the bridge or the ECR before testing to ensure the Fire Alarm System (FAS) is in “Test Mode” to avoid accidental Halon/CO2 discharge or General Alarm activation.
