Full Range of Caleffi Pressure Reducing Valves
Caleffi pressure reducing valves are designed to reduce and regulate the incoming pressure of water from the mains. High or variable pressure can damage downstream equipment such as boilers, pumps, and sensitive automation sensors. These valves are equipped with a compensated seat design that prevents large fluctuations in upstream pressure from affecting the downstream set pressure.
At Ndmarinetech we supply the whole line of Caleffi PRVs, which are made from dezincification resistant (DZR) alloy and include innovative self-contained cartridges that make maintenance a 5 minute process rather than a 2 hour overhaul.
Key Features of Caleffi Valves:
- Adjustable settings from 1 to 6 bars (depending on the type) for very accurate pressure control.
- There are other sorts of connections available, such as male union, female union, flanged, and threaded.
- Material: Brass that doesnt corrode and meets the EN 1567 standard
- The medium temperature functioning range is usually between 2°C and 80°C, but this varies by model.
- There are direct-acting piston-type, diaphragm type, and pilot-operated valves in this range.
- Some types come with changeable self-contained cartridges that make maintenance easier.
- Available versions come with a built-in pressure gauge or connections for external gauges for monitoring.
- Good for heating, cooling, and industrial uses, as well as home water systems

Applications:
Caleffi pressure-reducing valves ensure optimal performance and protection for household plumbing installations, heating and cooling systems, and industrial water supply lines. They protect equipment from pressure spikes and maintain system reliability with minimal maintenance requirements.
Our Engineer Experts’Â Guidance:
I’ve seen many technicians make the mistake of installing PRVs upside down or in inaccessible corners. In a marine environment, vibration and scale build-up are your biggest enemies. If you don’t follow the direction of the flow arrow or skip the flushing step, you’ll be replacing the cartridge within months.
Engineer Pro Tips:
- Always Install a Strainer Upstream: Even though Caleffi PRVs have internal filters, a dedicated Y-strainer upstream will catch the big stuff (weld slag and scale), significantly extending the life of your PRV cartridge.
- The 3:1 Ratio Rule: For maximum longevity and to prevent cavitation noise, avoid a pressure drop greater than 3:1 in a single stage (e.g., don’t drop 15 bar directly to 3 bar). Use two valves in series for high-ratio reductions.
- Horizontal is Best: While these can be installed vertically, horizontal installation allows for easier reading of the pressure gauge and more efficient sediment collection in the filter bowl.
- Flushing is Mandatory: Before fitting the valve, flush the entire line. 90% of PRV failures are caused by debris getting trapped on the valve seat during the first 10 minutes of operation.
- Thermal Expansion Warning: If the downstream pressure creeps up when no water is being used, it’s often due to a water heater. Install an expansion vessel between the PRV and the heater to absorb this pressure.
