Drew Marine PCN 548026 Oxygen Backfire Valve
The PCN 548026 is a premium quality backfire valve (flashback arrestor) that has several safety features combined into one small item. Its major duty is to extinguish flame fronts and prevent oxygen from feeding a fire back into the supply lines or cylinders. The valve, manufactured by the Drew Marine branch of Ashland, a global leader in technical solutions for the marine sector, is crucial to ensure compliance with international safety norms such as ISO 5175 and EN 730.

Applications
- Marine Central Gas Installations (CGI) are used at outlet stations for protection of the main pipeline system.
- Portable Welding Kits: Essential for aboard maintenance workers who rely on oxy-acetylene torch sets for repairs.
- Flashback Prevention : Prevents burn back and explosive decomposition of gases in hoses and regulators.
- Regulator Protection To be affixed on oxygen regulators to avoid oxygen enrichment in case of fire.
Pro Tips for Best Performance:
- Placement is Important I usually recommend putting these valves on both the regulator side and the torch side for maximum safety. This high-flow arrestor is particularly well suited for regulator mounting, as in PCN 548026.
- Check the Threads: Please note this model has G 3/8” LH threads. Always check your hose fittings before installation for a gas tight fit, but don’t over tighten.
- Soot Test: After each backfire, inspect the valve for soot build-up. These are designed to snuff out flames . If there is too much carbon build up on the sintered element , it can choke the gas flow and make the flame unstable .
- Annual Testing: These are new marine rules (and good seamanship) require that flashback arrestors be inspected for reverse flow and internal leakage at least once a year.
