Maintenance and Installation Tips
Based on what I’ve seen, the heat isn’t what kills touchscreens at sea; it’s galvanic corrosion and not sealing them properly. When you put the HMIDM7521 in, make sure the mounting gasket fits perfectly against the console cutout. Salt-laden air can get in through even the smallest gaps, which can cause ghost touches on the P-Cap sensor.
Tips: To make the LED backlight last longer, always use the software dimming feature when you’re on night watch on the bridge. If the touch response is slow in regions with a lot of humidity, don’t just push harder; use the Harmony utility to recalibrate the sensor.
