• Piston Ring Orientation: Stagger the ring gaps by 120° to prevent blow-by and ensure a proper compression seal.
• Cooling Passages: While the cylinder head is removed, inspect the water jackets for scale buildup. Use a marine-grade descaler if necessary to ensure optimal heat transfer.
• Torquing: Tighten cylinder head bolts in a star pattern to the manufacturer’s specified torque ($Nm$) to prevent gasket failure.
• Running-In: After a major overhaul, run the compressor unloaded for 15 minutes to allow oil distribution before slowly bringing it up to full working pressure.
