The Honeywell CC-PDOD51 is a 32-channel Digital Output (DO) module with high density from the well known Series C I/O family of the Experion PKS. Designed to meet the needs of modern distributed control systems (DCS), this module provides dependable, field-isolated, sink-type (open drain) 24V DC switching to control field actuators, interposing relays and solenoid valves in demanding industrial applications. It is coated with a G3-grade conformal coating, which is excellent at resisting air corrosion and is hence favoured for marine vessels, offshore platforms and hazardous petrochemical sites.

Marine Engineer’s Tips:
- External Power Isolation: If you are taking advantage of the 1000 VAC galvanic isolation, ensure you isolate the external field power supply grounds from the Series C system ground. Sharing a common return line externally completely bypasses the module’s safety isolation barrier, exposing your Experion controller to field surges.
- Induced Inductive Back-EMF: When driving inductive loads common to marine systems (such as heavy-duty solenoid valves or mechanical interposing relays), always install external flyback diodes across the DC load coil. The CC-PDOD51 has a max load current limit of 0.1 A per channel. Unsuppressed inductive spikes during turn-off will degrade the internal open-drain channels over time, leading to premature channel failure or stuck-on conditions.
