  1. Parallel and Capacity Limitations: A frequent error while retrofitting in the field is the assumption that the IC695PSD040F can be used in redundant or higher capacity mode. NEVER share loads by installing two of these power modules in the same backplane; you will cause serious equipment damage. If the estimates of your present rack are above 40 Watts then you will need to segment your system with expansion/remote backplanes or upgrade to a higher capacity power supply type like the IC695PSD140.
  2. Dealing with Marine Power Failures: This power supply has a 10ms ride-through window that absorbs dips in voltage. But if your marine vessel or industrial platform has frequent voltage brownouts then the +24VDC relay power line will drop promptly when the power is lost at the input and the control relays downstream will drop out immediately. To minimize occasional trips on essential propulsion or auxiliary machinery, take your primary 24VDC input through a dedicated stabilized UPS or battery-buffered distribution line.
  3. Thermal Management & Wiring Tips: The module is rated to 60°C but is subject to the normal thermal derating over 40°C. Provide sufficient space inside the control cabinet for natural vertical convection. Use 90°C-rated copper conductors and torque terminal block screws firmly within the 9.6–11.5 in-lbs specification to prevent high resistance micro-arcs generated by constant shipboard vibration.
