Engineer Expert’s Guide:

Marine Engineer’s Note: Do not run in a magnetic coupling pump such as the KF-85 dry, even for a few seconds, during installation or commissioning of the pump. The magnetic coupling uses the pumped fluid to take away heat. When working with low-viscosity fuels, make sure the system is completely ventilated before starting up. Always check the alignment of the pump and motor during installation as tiny misalignments will cause an increase in load on the magnetic coupling assembly. From time to time watch the pump suction head to avoid cavitation, the chief cause of premature spindle wear in screw pumps, for long term health.
