Schneider Electric LC2K09 – Commercial Reversing Electrical Contactor, pre-assembled for easy bidirectional motor control. It is part of the very reliable TeSys K family. It is compact and has a mechanical interlocking facility to prevent both directions being engaged at the same time, an important consideration with complex electrical systems.

Its rugged construction provides great electrical and mechanical endurance, making it the ideal solution to reverse small three phase motors up to 4 kW (at 400V) without the risk of phase to phase shorts.

Tips from our engineer:

1. Review Your Coil Suffix: The prefix “LC2K09” has the frame size but the last numbers specify the coil voltage (e.g., LC2K0910P7 has a 230V AC coil). Before you apply power, double check your control circuit voltage so you do not burn out the internal solenoid coil.
2. Add Electrical Interlocking: The mechanical interlock makes it impossible to close both at the same time mechanically , but you should always interlock it electrically too by wiring the auxiliary 1 NO/NC contacts into your control circuit. It’s a two-layer defence against a defective control signal slamming the mechanical linkage needlessly.
3. Beware of the temperature derating: The $20\text{A}$ rating is the traditional thermal current ($I_{th}$) under ambient temperature $50\ ^\circ\text{C}$. If you are putting this contactor inside a tight, unventilated enclosure next to a hot engine manifold, be sure to derate your operational current threshold so you don’t cause early thermal wear.
