The Solcon EPT-Tx (Model WO1458447008) is a special type of electronic potential transformer that is made just for medium voltage (MV) applications. It is mostly used with Solcon’s top-of-the-line soft starters.

As a marine engineer, I’ve seen these units work in the toughest engine room situations. This EPT-Tx is like the eyes of your control system. It sends accurate voltage information from the 11kV busbars to the low-voltage control electronics. This electronic version is smaller, has better linearity, and is safer because it keeps high-voltage transients away from the sensitive microprocessor logic. Schedule for Regular Maintenance:

1. Every three months, look for tracking marks (carbonizing) on the insulation body. If you see any signs of treeing, it means that the dielectric is no longer intact.
2. Monthly cleaning: Oil mist and salty air can make a conductive film in engine rooms. Use an approved electrical contact cleaner or a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the outside.
3. Connection Integrity: Make sure that the high-voltage input leads and the low-voltage ribbon and terminal connections are properly torqued. When HV connections are loose, they can cause arcing, which will damage the PCB.
