Our Chief Engineer’s Tips:

1. Monitor the DP Indicator: Never wait for a scheduled calendar date to change your NT7204 filters if your differential pressure indicator shows amber or red. Running with a choked inlet filter forces the air end to work harder, driving up discharge temperatures and leading to premature oil breakdown.
2. Inspect the Filter Housing Internal Bore: When replacing these elements, clean the inside of the silencer/filter housing with a lint-free cloth. Check that the seating surface is free of debris. If the old gasket leaves residue, scrape it clean to ensure the new NT7204 filter creates a flawless, airtight seal.
3. Avoid Compressed Air Blow-Backs: Never attempt to clean these filters by blowing them out with high-pressure working air. This tears the microscopic structure of the marine-spec media, rendering the filter useless against fine particulates even if it looks clean to the naked eye. Always replace them with new units.
