MAN B&W 98MEC-98MCC-98MC Piston Rod
The MAN B&W 98MEC-98MCC-98MC piston rod is an important part of big two-stroke marine diesel engines that are made to work reliably in rough sea conditions. Forged from high-quality steel and surface-hardened on the running surface of the stuffing box, it provides the best sealing and durability while letting the piston cool effectively through a center bore. This piston rod has four high-strength bolts that connect the piston to the crosshead. It can handle mean effective pressures of up to 18.2 bar and piston speeds of about 8.32 m/s in K98 series engines with a 980 mm bore and a 2,400 mm stroke.
