Siemens 6EP1931-2FC01 SITOP DC-USV Modul 40 Uninterruptible Power Supply
The Siemens 6EP1931-2FC01 SITOP DC-USV Modul 40 is a robust, high-capacity uninterruptible power supply (UPS) engine, ensuring continuous, zero-interrupt 24V DC power for important automation architectures. Siemens designed this module for operation in harsh industrial environments and it offers a vital protective barrier against voltage swells, brownouts and catastrophic main power failures.
The SITOP Modul 40 makes sure that programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and sensory networks continue to operate or shut down safely and systematically during electrical blackouts, whether embedded in land-based manufacturing systems or mounted within state-of-the-art engine room monitoring panels at sea.

Key Features
- High-Current 40A Output: Capable of buffering demanding multi-component control systems and strong induction loads, it is designed to deliver up to 40 Amps continuously.
- Seamless Mains-to-Battery Buffering: Uses immediate energy bridging from linked battery modules the nanosecond the primary input voltage falls below the specified threshold.
- Integrated Polarity Protection – Features high level dual reverse polarity protection on the primary input voltage line and on the attached energy storage array.
- Robust Thermal Performance: Fully functional across a difficult temperature matrix spanning from -25°C to +60°C, particularly ideal for poorly ventilated control cabinets.
- Compact DIN-Rail Engineering: High power density in a durable housing with rapid, vibration-resistant standard DIN-rail attachment.

Applications
- Heavy Manufacturing: Automotive assembly lines, material handling systems, and continuous process plants where a mid-cycle power drop results in massive product loss.
- Critical Infrastructure: Power generation stations, water treatment facilities, and remote telemetry terminal units (RTUs).
- Oil & Gas Refining: Safe-state emergency valve controllers and hazard-detection sensor clusters requiring continuous uptime.
Hardware Compatibility
The 6EP1931-2FC01 operates seamlessly with the standard SITOP industrial power infrastructure. It is compatible with:
- SITOP Power Modules: 24V DC power supplies (e.g., SITOP Modular, SITOP Smart 20A or 40A).
- Battery Storage Modules: 24V lead-acid battery packs ranging from 1.2 Ah up to 12 Ah capacities.
Installation Guide:
- Setting the Cut-In Threshold: The buffer threshold (22.5V DC) specified at the factory is not always correct. Adjust the onboard pot-meters to set the response threshold to suit your line impedance. In long line run conditions, putting it closer to 24V guarantees that battery buffering kicks in before peripheral sensors drop offline.
- Thermal Management in Tight Enclosures: This unit dissipates almost 30 Watts of heat at max load, even though it has a 97.2% efficiency rating. Avoid installing it immediately next to heat sensitive components, such as micro-PLCs. Allow at least 50mm spacing above and below the module to allow natural convection cooling.
- Battery Monitoring Strategy: As this model does not have a specific PC data port, make maximum use of the floating changeover contacts (Alarm/Bat and Bat > 85%). Tie these dry connections back into your central PLC or engine room Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) digital input cards. This allows your SCADA to be sent real-time structural warnings when the battery falls below critical thresholds or needs to be physically renewed.
