The Endress+Hauser 71082677 (Model: FMP57 Levelflex) is a high-end guided wave radar (GWR) level transmitter specifically developed for the demanding requirements of bulk solids, powder and granular material measurement in industrial process applications and marine storage hold applications. The FMP57 is based on the working principle of the time-of-flight (ToF) measurement and sends high-frequency microwave pulses straight down a physical probe waveguide. The immediate reflection on the medium boundary layer is sensed by the receiver and the integrated onboard firmware is able to precisely calculate the true material level.

This level transmitter has dynamic Multi-Echo Tracking algorithms that continually filter spurious echo signatures from structural tank impediments, internal bulkheads, signal-attenuating dust blankets and high-noise gravity filling cycles. Probe Tensioning & Mechanical Load Calibrations

When installing the FMP57 in deep bulk storage silos or vessel cargo holds carrying heavy aggregate solids (such as iron ore, cement, or grain), the down-pull forces on a rope probe waveguide escalate exponentially during discharge cycles. It is critical to ensure that structural calculations account for the maximum pulling force limit of 30 kN.

Tip: Never fix the lower end of a rope probe rigidly to the bottom of the vessel without utilizing a heavy-duty tensioning spring. Structural shifts or uneven mass displacement during heavy seas can exceed the structural yield limits of the cable, resulting in mechanical shearing or permanent sensor distortion.
