Protocol for Professional Installation & Commissioning

  1. Mandatory Oil Priming: Never perform a dry start of a newly fitted turbocharger. Prior to connecting the oil feed line, inject clean certified engine oil straight into the turbocharger’s oil inlet port and rotate the compressor wheel by hand throughout this process. It gives instant lubrication to the journal bearings on first cranking.
  2. Flush the Lines: Check and flush the oil feed and drain lines. Over time the heat generates carbon deposits (coking) to block the drain lines. A restricted drain creates crankcase backpressure inside the turbo block, which forces oil past the dynamic seals to spill into the exhaust or compressor housings.
  3. Check Intake Integrity – Make that all parts of the air intake system are vacuumed and clear of foreign object debris (FOD) upstream of the compressor. A compressor wheel turns at 100,000+ RPM . Even a tiny bit can wreck one .
  4. Cool Down Routine: Operators should idle engine 3 to 5 minutes prior to absolute shutdown after high-load operations. Thermal soak occurs during abrupt shutdowns, where stagnant oil in the turbocharger bearing housing bakes, closing internal oil passageways and causing premature bearing failure.
