Product Overview

The Lutron QSNE 2DAL D (Energi Savr Node for DALI®) is a DALI‑2‑certified lighting controller that can be placed on a DIN rail. It is made for businesses and institutions. It is a single-master application controller that controls two separate DALI® buses. Each bus may power and operate up to 64 DALI-compliant digital addressable loads, like LED drivers, ballasts, and tunable-white lights.

The QSNE-2DAL-D is designed to work with Lutron QS-based systems like Quantum, myRoom, and others. It makes lighting control easier by providing built-in DALI bus power, centralized configuration, and easy connections with occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, IR receivers, and wireless QS devices. This makes it perfect for big offices, schools, hospitals, and buildings with multiple tenants who need programmable lighting management that saves energy.

Lutron qsne-2dal-d Key Features:

  1. Dual DALI Bus Support: This device can control two separate DALI buses, each of which can handle up to 64 digital addressable dimming loads (drivers/ballasts) that are DALI-compliant.
  2. Built-in DALI Bus Power: Each bus can get up to 250 mA of power (128 mA guaranteed), therefore most setups don’t need separate DALI power supplies.
  3. The QS System Integration works as a single-master controller in Lutron QS ecosystems. This lets you control, schedule, and manage scenes from one place.
  4. Zone and Group Management: Each DALI bus can handle more than one zone and DALI group. This makes it easier to regulate and report on lighting by putting it into logical sections.
  5. Energy-Saving Features: Supports daylight harvesting, occupancy-based control, and timeclock scheduling to cut down on energy use with little to no manual intervention.
  6. Emergency Fixture Support: When added to a Quantum-based system, it works with both maintained and non-kept DALI self-contained emergency fixtures.
  7. Strong Power and Surge Protection: Works on 220–240 V~ 50/60 Hz with a maximum current demand of 100 mA. It also has lightning-strike protection according to ANSI/IEEE 62.31–1980 (it can handle voltage surges up to 6000 V~ and current surges up to 3000 A).
  8. Power-Failure Memory: Keeps programming and settings in case of a power outage, so the lighting system can go back to as it was before the power went out.
  9. Rugged DIN-Rail Mounting: This design makes it easy to install in conventional distribution panels, making it perfect for long-term commercial use.

Installation Guide:

-> Mounting: The QSNE‑2DAL‑D snaps onto a standard DIN rail inside a low-voltage or lighting control panel. Make sure there is enough air flow and easy access to the connections.

-> Main Power Connection: Use cables and circuit protection that meet local electrical rules to connect the L (Line) and N (Neutral) terminals to a 220–240 V~ 50/60 Hz supply.

-> DALI Bus Wiring: Connect two separate DALI bus cables (shielded twisted pair is best) from the module’s DALI outputs to the DALI-compliant drivers/ballasts. Make sure that the total bus current does not go over 250 mA per bus.

-> Connections for sensors and devices: Use the QSNE-2DAL-D wiring schematic to connect compatible Lutron QS occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, IR receivers, and QS-series wallstations or wireless controllers to the right terminals on the module.

-> Grounding and Surge Protection: Make sure the panel is properly grounded and follow Lutron’s instructions for surge protection and reducing the risk of lightning strikes.

-> Commissioning: After wiring, use Lutron QS programming software (such Quantum, myRoom, or something similar) to set up the module by assigning zones, scenes, schedules, and sensor inputs as needed.

Applications:

  1. Zoned Lighting Control: The QSNE‑2DAL‑D lets you group lights into zones (like open-plan offices, hallways, and meeting rooms) and control them one at a time or through presets.
  2. Occupancy-Based Automation: Use occupancy sensors to turn on lights when people are in a room and turn them off or dim them after a defined period of time, which saves energy.
  3. Daylight Harvesting: Connect sensors that measure natural light to LED lights so that they gradually dim or brighten based on how much natural light is available. This keeps the brightness level steady while using less energy.
  4. Scene and Schedule Management: Use the QS-based software interface to build scenes (such “Meetings,” “Cleaning,” and “Night”) and set times or days for them.
  5. Emergency Lighting Support: If you add DALI emergency fixtures to a Quantum-compatible system, you can set them up to run test routines and automatically switch to emergency mode when the power goes out.
  6. Wireless Control Integration: Connect with QS-compatible wireless controllers (like Pico controls) so that you can manually change lighting scenarios without having to change the wiring.
  7. Monitoring and Reporting: You may use the QSNE-2DAL-D’s connection to QS software to keep an eye on the state of the luminaires, find out when equipment breaks down, and make operational reports to help plan maintenance.
