Installation Guide by NDMarineTech’s Engineer:
- Case Flushing: Even though the M2 series has a strong shaft seal, always check your case drain line for obstructions when you are approaching the 400 PSI back-pressure limit.
- Fluid Cleanliness: The gerotor design is susceptible to particulate contamination. Keep your hydraulic fluid at ISO 4406 cleanliness standards (preferably 18/16/13) to avoid scouring of the internal rotor sets.
- Thermal Management: If operating fluid temperatures are more than 45°C (80°F) above ambient, contact factory for seal material compatibility (e.g. change to Fluorocarbon seals).
- Startup “Burp”: When first commissioning, fill the case with clean hydraulic oil, manually rotate the motor shaft to ensure it is lubricated before the first system start.
- Monitoring: The use of a thermal imaging camera on the motor casing during full load testing can be used periodically to identify internal wear or bypass problems early by means of localized hot spots.
