Description

Advanced Motion Controls DPCANIE-100B080 DigiFlex® Performance™ Servo Drive (20–80 VDC, 100A Peak)

The ADVANCED Motion Controls DPCANIE-100B080 is a panel-mount servo amplifier engineered for distributed or centralized motion architecture. Operating across an ultra-low-noise DC bus range of 20 to 80 VDC, this DigiFlex® Performance™ unit delivers 60 A continuous (60 ARMS) and a peak rating of 100 A (70.7 ARMS) using 20 kHz Space Vector Modulation (SVM).

Whether controlling dynamic azimuth positioning in ROVs/AUVs, electric thruster actuators, marine winch tension reels, radar pedestal tracking, or precision subsea valve manifolds, the drive provides sub-microsecond servo response loops.

Network integration is managed natively via CANopen (DS301 profile / DSP-402 motion profile), supported by high-speed hardware encoder following, analog ±10V control, and dual-channel hardware-level Safe Torque Off (STO) certified to SIL 3 / PL e. Drive commissioning, field calibration, loop tuning (PIDF), and real-time trace diagnostics run through AMC’s dedicated DriveWare® 7 configuration suite over an optically isolated RS-232 interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the primary difference between the DPCANIE and DPEANIE servo drives?

The DPCANIE series communicates via the CANopen network bus (CiA 301/402 device profile), whereas the DPEANIE series operates on EtherCAT (CoE protocol). Both share the exact same physical envelope, 20–80 VDC power stage, 100A peak current capacity, and motor feedback architecture.

How do I configure the drive without an active CANopen master network connected?

You can use AMC’s free DriveWare® 7 configuration software via the RS-232 serial communications port. DriveWare allows you to command the drive directly in jog, indexing, or test velocity modes, tune digital PIDF filters, and clear diagnostic fault codes without any fieldbus connected.

Can I run a brushed DC motor or a single-phase voice coil with the DPCANIE-100B080?

Yes. The drive supports single-phase brushed DC motors and voice coils. Connect the load across Motor Phase A and Motor Phase B (leaving Phase C disconnected), and configure the motor type setting inside DriveWare 7 to “Single Phase / Brushed”.

What occurs if the Safe Torque Off (STO) terminals are left unconnected?

The drive outputs will remain in an inhibited high-impedance state, preventing PWM switching and prohibiting motor torque generation. If your application does not require functional safety STO, install the factory-supplied STO bypass jumper pins between the 24V supply and STO inputs on the 8-pin connector.

Does the DPCANIE-100B080 incorporate an internal dynamic braking resistor?

No. The drive contains a 500 µF internal bus capacitance bank for filtering and short deceleration energy absorption, but it does not have an onboard dynamic power brake resistor. For applications with high-inertia deceleration or vertical gravity axes, an external shunt regulator (clamping circuit) must be installed across the DC bus lines.

Why is the minimum load inductance specification critical?

The 20 kHz PWM inverter requires a minimum motor line-to-line inductance (75 µH at 24V, 250 µH at 80V) to prevent high-frequency current ripple from exceeding current-limit thresholds. If your motor inductance is below this threshold, add external three-phase series inductors to avoid instantaneous over-current trips (F-04) and protect the output MOSFETs.
