Ingersoll Rand 92RB078 Multi-Vane Air Motor 7.9 HP

New – Open Box

Description

Ingersoll Rand 92RB078 Multi-Vane Air Motor (7.9 HP) – NEW

The Ingersoll Rand 92RB078 is a top quality heavy duty spur gear multi-vane air motor for demanding industrial and marine applications. This motor is a powerful 7.9 HP (5.89 kW) motor built for low-speed, high-torque applications where reliability is vital.

This pneumatic powerhouse thrives in volatile, high-temperature or wash-down situations unlike electric motors. With its “will-not-burn-out” design, it can operate continuously even under stall or overload conditions for optimal uptime in mission-critical systems.

Features

  1. Hazardous Duty Ready: It is intrinsically safe for use in explosive or flammable conditions as it does not produce electrical sparks.
  2. Stall-proof Performance Ensures operational safety even under prolonged overloading or stalling without harm.
  3. The precision four-way valve is instantly reversible, allowing for rapid, seamless direction changes.
  4. Cool-Running Technology: The natural cooling effect of pneumatic expansion allows the motor to operate dependably in excessive ambient heat.

Usage:

  • Marine & Offshore: Perfect for winch drives, chemical pumps and valve actuators.
  • Process Industry: Ideal for agitators, mixers and conveyor systems in hazardous areas.
  • Heavy Manufacturing: Appropriate for material handling equipment and heavy-duty drilling rigs.
  • Hazardous Environments: Suitable for oil & gas operations and chemical processing companies.

Engineer’s Guide:

  1. Clean & Dry Air is Non-Negotiable: The “Achilles’ heel” of any vane motor is moisture. Always install a Filter-Regulator-Lubricator (FRL) unit upstream. Water vapor leads to internal vane corrosion, which causes immediate efficiency loss.
  2. Lubrication Management: Use a high-quality, non-detergent pneumatic tool oil. If you are operating in a particularly cold climate or high-load scenario, consult the manual for the specific viscosity grade to ensure the vanes seal correctly without dragging.
  3. Monitoring Stall: While it can be stalled, frequent stalling indicates an undersized motor or a mechanical binding in your load. If you find yourself stalling consistently, check your line pressure at the motor inlet—not the compressor gauge—to ensure you are getting the full 90 PSI at the tool.
  4. Maintenance Tip: During your scheduled dry-dock or maintenance interval, pull the motor end-plate to inspect the phenolic vanes for “stepping” or excessive wear. Replacing vanes is inexpensive and restores factory torque levels instantly.
