The Magna Mike 8600 is more than just a thickness gauge; it’s a trusted companion in industries where precision matters. Its magnetic probe works in harmony with a small target ball or disk placed on the opposite side of the material, instantly displaying the thickness on a large, easy-to-read color LCD. The process is simple, intuitive, and leaves no marks on your materials, making it perfect for both routine checks and critical inspections.

The Magna-Mike 8600 has a magnetic probe on one side of the material and a tiny target (such a steel ball, wire, or disk) on the other side. It employs a Hall-effect sensor to detect the distance between the two and shows the thickness directly.

It is often used for measuring the thickness of walls of bottles and containers, as well as for packaging, automotive, and aerospace parts where ultrasonic gauging is hard or not dependable. ​

• You can choose from three resolution options: 0.1 mm (0.01 in.), 0.01 mm (0.001 in.), and 0.001 mm (0.0001 in.)
• The measurement update (capture) rate is 60 Hz, and the display update rate can be set to 4, 8, 16, or 20 Hz
• You can use live, Min, Max, differential, and Min/Max scan to quickly find the most important thin places. ​

Data logging and connectivity

-> Outputs: conventional RS-232, USB 2.0 device port, and VGA visual output. ​

-> Data storage: a file-based data logger on board and a microSD card that can be removed (up to 2 GB in older datasheets; up to 64 GB in recent ones, depending on the revision). ​

-> Targets: magnetic steel balls with diameters of 3/32, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 inches; small disks and wire targets (for example, 0.026 in / 0.66 mm wire) for particular shapes such narrow grooves and small holes.
