Unused Input Terminal Discipline: A common failure mode on retrofits is an immediate “False Trip State.” On the ESM-10 Rev 6, any unused digital inputs must be explicitly terminated to satisfy the internal wire-break detection logic. All unused Normally Open (NO) external shutdown lines must have a 10 kΩ resistor mounted in parallel. All unused Normally Closed (NC) inputs must be closed out with a direct short-circuit jumper. Furthermore, if a stop solenoid channel is vacant, terminate it using a 470 Ω / 5 Watt power resistor to completely bypass false open-loop solenoid break alarms.
